Creating the Text to a Great Book Trailer
Here’s part 2 to prepare for the “3 Steps to a Book
Trailer That Sells!” webinar.
Last time, we covered how to write the text for the
book trailer. If you missed that, you can see how
to do it here:
http://www.baranyvideomarketing.com/?p=71
Now actually, we didn’t quite finish with the text,
yet. Step 2 is to edit the text. We want to shorten
it. Let the images also do the talking.
If you have any experience with Twitter, it’s very
similar. You only have so many characters allowed
on the video software that you have to keep the
text brief and snappy!
Let’s try with mine:
Nathan, a computer programmer, is being
watched by a secret society. When a police officer
investigating his case turns up dead, Nathan realizes
that everyone he holds dear could be next. As has
been foretold in the ancient scriptures.
I’ll get rid of any unneeded words and make the
long sentences cut into several shorter ones.
Nathan is a computer programmer.
Watched by a secret society. A police officer
investigating his case turns up dead. Nathan
realizes he could be next. As is foretold in
the ancient scriptures.
Between every sentence can be one or two
images supporting the short, simple statement.
The shorter the sentence, the better.
Now let’s do nonfiction.
Are you a synchronized swimmer who hates dinners
made of crispy, crunchy food? This book provides
recipes that guarantee your food will be mushy.
You will always have soggy suppers!
Remove the unnecessary words and cut the compound
sentences, and you get:
Are you a synchronized swimmer? Do you hate
crispy, crunchy dinners? This book provides
recipes for mushy food. Guaranteed. You
will always have soggy suppers!
What’s yours? Put it in the comments below!
